Have never heard the latter, so will say Libertine. Excellent glam/punk band.

Never heard either, but have heard that one of them is nothing more than a Social Distortion clone, and since there is already one of those by the name of Backyard Babies, I have always passed on checking them out.

    Libertine!
I like The Libertines too but they could have done way better if their singer wasn't a crackhead.
It seems like nobody knows them in the US while they're on the cover of every magazine in Europe.

They probably would have been a lot worse, its sad to say but he's one of the many muso's that writes fantastic songs while shall we say under the influence, there are many examples of brilliant songs written by people in a chemical state, in no way am I advocating it indeed its a shame that ultimately their pain becomes our pleasure

In fact some people find that when they kick the habit they can't write a damn thing

    Just an observation

yeah maybe... but I mean they could have been at least a better live band... I ran into Pete Doherty once at the bar in a festival, he could hardly stand up so obviously they didn't play on that day...

Yep I wouldn't imagine that he's the most reliable person in the world, not what you want if you are buying tickets for a gig.

I used to hate them. Couldn't see what all the fuss was about. It all just seemd uber hype becuase Alan Magee manageed them and Mick Jone from the Clash is their 5th member. Then all of a suden it all just clicked. Great songwriters, witty , humble, delicate even. Still too much hype but a great band.
